| Description: One of the few roads to alpine
in our region. Especially suitable for four-wheel
drive
vehicles. A large flat alpine area of dryland, rock
and meadows. Valuable for seniors, small children
and
anyone confined to a wheelchair and riding in a vehicle.
Not a good area for hiking unless you park and travel
into remote areas free of vehicles. A very popular
and well-used area for motorized travel so do not
expect
to see much wildlife in travelled areas. Easy connection
to the McDonnell Lake Trail
(hikers only) and to the Pine
Creek Trail (hikers only). |

Features: A very flat alpine area
that is used extensively in the winter for snowmobiling and for
motorized
travel in the summer. All wheeled vehicles must stay on
established hard-surface roads so that tires do not damage alpine
plants and soils which take
decades
to regrow. Mt Leach is the high point at 1930 m. Good views of the
Howson Range to the west, Hudson Bay Mountain to the north. |
