Rating:
Road Conditions: Good but rough logging road. Very busy during the week with logging truck traffic. Travel is only recommended on weekends and holidays. Large RV vehicles should not use this road.   Trail Length: Five km to the first peak or over two hours. You could spend days exploring the rest of the mountain.
Directions: Drive about 40 minutes north from Smithers on Highway 16 to the Suskwa River Forest Service Road which turns north from the highway next to a railroad overpass. Or drive south from New Hazelton about 15 minutes. The turnoff is not easily seen and on a curve. Keep to the main Natlan Creek spur road and drive about 35 km to the Nichyeskwa North Road which turns right (northeast). Park at the first old logging road to the right which is within 200 metres of the turnoff. Walk up the old road to a cut block and then cross the cut block to the middle of the far side of the block which is the height of land. You will see flagging to follow.   Features: This is a poorly-marked route rather than a proper trail. People have hung just enough flagging to make following the ridge possible. Use a compass and keep to a heading of about 130 degrees from true north. The trail becomes clearer the higher you go. You will pass an old campsite at timberline and from there keep to the steep ridge. Flag the top of the trail if you might have a problem finding it on the way down. This trail is not often used but is good access to a large alpine area with excellent views in all directions. This trail requires some bushwhacking across the cut block and again to follow the flagged route.
