Description: A set of trails to remote valleys and alpine, often used by ATVs and snowmobiles. Suitable for multi-day hiking. The Houston Snowmobile Club operates a cabin in the area. Contact them to arrange a stay.
Near: Houston
Difficulty: Moderate but long distances involved.

Location: Map West
Rating:
Road Conditions: Good logging road to the turnoff, narrow logging road to the parking lot. Use on the weekends and holidays to avoid logging trucks. Pull over and stop if you meet large trucks.   Trail Length: Several trails extend about 15 km past the parking lot.
Directions: Drive north on Highway 16 from Houston for 4 km and turn left (south) on the Morice Forest Service Road. Continue past the sawmills on the main road and follow the Huckleberry Mine signs until you get to the 100 km sign. Turn right on the Sibola Main FSR and you will come to a parking lot at 9 km. The road is deactivated beyond but there are light-duty bridges for snowmobiles, ATVs or foot traffic only.

Features: The area is designated Motorized year round and is an excellent ATV or snowmobile destination. Stay on the road in the summer to avoid damage to the wetlands and meadows. Hikers will want to avoid the easy routes to get away from the motorized traffic. There are old mine exploration sites and the alpine area of Mt Ney and the north side of Sibola Peak. Take care crossing the bridges, the untreated log stringers will rot off in coming years and may become unsafe. Because of the long distance from town, you may want to camp overnight.

Rocks block pickup access at the parking lot

Light-duty bridges are only suitable for snowmobile, foot or ATV traffic
