Description: A well-used trail along the Bulkley River. Easy access, a wide path and and level ground winds through cottonwood and aspen stands. Suitable year-round. Excellent for a morning or evening stroll to stretch the legs. Suited for walking, jogging, mountain bike, cross-country skis and even horseback. No motorized vehicles. There are sand and gravel bars to explore along the river. Watch for ducks and river otter.

Road Conditions: Paved streets   Trail Length: 3.25 km of woodland trail, and over 4 km of residential streets. It takes about 40 minutes to walk the woodland portion and the same time to return to the campground.
Directions: Turn east onto Main Street from Highway 16 in Smithers. Drive 1.2 km, past the Hilltop Pub, and turn left on the hill onto the Riverside Campground road. Park in the small parking lot and walk through the campground to either of two trails.   Features: There is a map of the trail at the start. If you take a dog with you, please carry a leash. Many people have their dogs with them. The trail does a complete loop around the Town of Smithers but the section on the western side of Highway 16 follows residential streets. To avoid the streets, turn back at the north highway crossing to return to the parking lot.
The trail is popular in the winter for jogging and walking
