Road Conditions: Access road in the park to the trailhead is rough and suitable for high-clearance vehicles only. Not suitable for large RV vehicles.   Trail Length: Almost two hours on the Lyons Creek Trail to the start of the Padella Trail . Add another hour or more to reach the Padella summit.
Directions: Set odometer to zero at the junction of Highway 16 and the Old Babine Lake Road just south of the Bulkley River bridge, south of Smithers. Drive on the old Babine Lake Road for 7.9 km and turn left on the Telkwa High Road. Turn right on the Driftwood Road at 9.4 km. You will cross a bridge at 15.7 km. Very rough road from 17.7 km to the small parking lot at the Lyon Creek Trail sign. Follow the Lyons Creek Trail southeast along the flank of Harvey Mountain and then northeast in the alpine around the end of Harvey Mountain. Keep right to reach the Padella Pass after crossing the log foot bridge in the lower alpine. Padella Mt. is on your right. Leave the trail and continue around the north side, then on to the east side of the mountain to climb a scree slope toward the summit.

Features: Watch for mountain goats. They will sometimes hide in the rocks and then show themselves as you are descending. Watch for and listen for marmots. Wolves are sometimes seen in this area.

There is a rock cairn at the Padella summit which is almost flat. There is a good mix of wild flowers in both dry and wet alpine meadows in the area.

Excellent views of Carson and Ganokwa Basins and the cliffs of Ganokwa Creek. Smithers Airport can be seen to the south.

Padella Mt is first seen when looking east from the Lyons Creek trail

Scree slope and shoulder on the east side of Padella Mt. - the easiest approach to the summit. The Onion Mt. is in the distance to the right.
