Road Conditions: All weather gravel road to parking lot.   Trail Length: Two hours to the Snowmobile Club cabin at timberline. Another hour to the smaller Burdette Cabin.
Directions: Set odometer to zero at the intersection of Main St and Highway 16 in Smithers. Drive south on Highway 16 for about 7 km and turn left (East) on the Babine Lake Road (Eckman Road). Turn left at the intersection of the Old Babine Lake Road (24 km) and the parking lot will be on the right at 28.7 km on your odometer. The trail is an old road headed uphill from the parking lot. Keep right on the trail after about 45 min walk.

Features: Easy summer access to a large rolling alpine area and the Ganokwa Basin. There are connector trails to other trails in the Babine Mountain Recreation Area including McCabe and Lyons Creek Trails. Hikers have permission to use the two Snowmobile Club cabins but you must pack out all trash and leave the cabins as you found them. Be sure to close and secure doors when you leave. Intensive use by snowmobilers in winter and unsuitable for cross country skiing. Watch for ptarmigan but there are no suitable cliffs for mountain goats.
