| Road Conditions: Logging roads,
best to use on weekends and holidays. Not suitable for large RV vehicles. |
|
Trail Length: One hour up and 45 minutes down. |
| Directions: Drive 11.6 km south on Highway 16
from Telkwa and turn left on Woodmere Road. Turn right at the "T"
past the lake and left at the next corner. You are still on Woodmere
Road. At the top of the hill, turn right at the yellow arrow. Keep
right at the next "Y" and drive about 7 km on this rough
road and turn right at the intersection onto main logging road. Just
past the 11 km sign, the road makes an "S" curve and crosses
Demieux Creek. The trail is on the hill on the far (south) side of
the creek. |
|
Features: Well-used trail seems to end at a swampy
area. Look to the left and up a short hill to see the flagged trail.
Watch for an abundance of berries in the sub-alpine including low-bush
blueberry, crow berry, kinnikinik, and soapberry. Trees are spaced
far enough apart to permit exploring the many wet meadows and small
ponds. There are larger lakes to the southeast but you will need maps
and compass or GPS to get back to the trail. |
