Features: Excellent opportunity
to visit trails that are centuries old and involve so much history.
Small
pox and other diseases brought
by European traders in the 1800's and again in the 1920's caused
the death of so many natives in remote villages such as Kuldo and
Kisgegas
that
the
residents
finally
had to move to larger villages near Hazelton. The Yukon Telegraph
Trail happened to pass right through Kuldo village - two history
lessons in one. There are 7 interpretive markers on the trail but
the pamphlet that explained them is out of print. Click
here for highlights from that pamphlet. The site is protected
by Provincial regulation - do not remove artifacts. Views of the
Skeena River from a high cliff at the village site.
