Description: An easy trail within hiking distance of Burns Lake. Suitable for all ages. Very well marked. No valley views but a good mix of forest types and wild plants. Good access to two lakes and all the wildlife that is attracted to water. Trail was constructed in 2001 by the Burns Lake Community Forest Ltd. Trail is only 3.3 km from the Rod Reid Trail and the Eveneshen Trail. Road to Kager Lake is plowed in the winter within 1.2 km so that trails could be used by skiers (or ski from town). Rough road continues for 5 km to the lookout on Boer Mountain.

Rating:
Road Conditions: Narrow (but short) gravel road. Not suitable for large RV vehicles.   Trail Length: 7.88 km
Directions: Turn north off Highway 16 at 8th Ave and head up the hill. Turn one block west to 9th Ave at the top of hill. Go north to curve and turn west (left) on Gowan Road. Drive .6 km and bear left on the Boer Mt. Road. Drive 2.7 km and the lake is on the right. Walk in short road uphill from lake to upper trailhead. The lower trailhead is on the powerline right-of-way on the lower side of the lake.   Features: Good mix of pine and spruce forest. Lots of high-bush cranberry and other typical plants. Watch for waterfowl and beaver in the lakes. Easy access for canoes. Trail is suitable for hiking, horseback riding and mountain bikes but no motorized vehicles. There is another trail for ATVs and snowmobiles a short distance along the road to the west (before Kager Lake). Main trail heads southeast to Long Lake and on to Tintagel Road. Lots of cross trails to explore.
