Trail turns north from the Little Joe Lakes Trail at steep switchbacks
Location: Map NW
Rating:
Road Conditions: Four-wheel drive only on the Cronin Road but excellent all-weather gravel road to the Little Joe Lakes Trail.   Trail Length: 1-1/2 km.
Directions: Hike on the Little Joe Lakes Trail for 3-1/2 km from the trail parking lot to the steep switchbacks below the first lake. There is a sign that indicates the Eagle Pass Trail which is 1-1/2 km long from the sign on the Little Joe Lakes Trail to the Eagle Pass overlooking the head of Higgins Creek Road. If you wish to hike through, the Higgins Creek Road is 6 km long and joins the the Cronin Road Trail at 7 km.   Features: Watch for flagging at the start of the trail and work across and uphill. Once you find the trail above the slide area at the start, it's easy to follow. You'll notice that the trail is engineered to follow an even grade, like the McCabe Trail. Good views across the Little Joe Lakes Trail to the south. Excellent views of the Cronin and Hyland Mountains at the pass. Arrange vehicles at both the start of the Little Joe Lakes Trail and at 7 km on the Cronin Trail and this is an ideal crossover easy to do in one long day.
Start of the trail heads up and across in front of the hill on the right
