Description: A steep, direct route to a very imposing rock. One of the most dramatic hikes in the region. For advanced hikers only. Not suitable for children owing to the hazards. A must-do for everyone else. Where did the name come from? There were Chinese prospectors working this area. When asked where they found gold flakes, they answered "China Knows".

Mountain is breaking into large blocks
Location: Map East
Rating:
Road Conditions: Good all-weather logging road. Not suitable for large RV vehicles. Yield right of way to logging trucks or travel on weekends and holidays to avoid logging traffic.   Trail Length: 1-1/2 hour up, one hour down.
Directions: Set your odometer to zero at the Houston Travel Info Centre in Houston. Drive east on Highway 16 for 8.8 km and turn right on McKilligan Road. Keep left at 9.7 km. You will pass a refuse dump. Keep left at km 24.2 on the Heading East Forest Service Road. Drive to the top of the hill at 25.1 km and turn around and park. The trailhead is back down the hill and marked by flagging off of an old road grade parallel to and above the road.   Features: You will have to hang on to a rope and scramble over a 6' high rock on steep ground. Once past that it's easy going to the top. A great view and you'll notice large cracks in the ground where the entire mountain is breaking into large sections. Be careful and do not fall into those cracks - there is no bottom visible. Do the tour around the top - lots of spectacular cliffs and views. Too bad it's not suitable for the rock climbers but it's all a punky looking conglomerate.
Trail goes in slot between these two large rock cliffs

Park at the top of the hill and walk down to the trailhead
