Description: A world-class fossil bed located in a creek canyon. Shale formations hold plant, animal and insect fossils of species that inhabited the area 50 million years ago during a warmer period, similar to the climate of North Carolina today.
Located near: Smithers
 
Location: on Map NW
Park size: 21 hectares
Type: Day use - fossil beds
Road Conditions: All-weather gravel   Features: Fossils may not be removed from the park. There is a scree slope and viewing platform. Small fossils show in the broken rock at the foot of the slope. Four picnic tables are located along the creek. Easy access from Smithers.
Directions: Drive south from Smithers. Turn off Highway 16 just south of the Bulkley River Bridge onto the Old Babine Lake Road. Turn left at the intersection at 7.4 km, go 2 km and turn right on the Driftwood Road. It's 4.1 km to the Park on the right side of the road.
