Walk through Telkwa... ...to Aldermere, 1906
Have you visited the new Community trails in Telkwa? They combine the fun of walking with a touch of history.
Walk the paths and you can breathe fresh air, get the blood flowing and the heart working.
As a bonus, the trails have a story to tell. Part of the path follows the Aldermere Trail, the main "highway" in the Bulkley Valley in the the early days of the 1900's

First, let's find the trail.
One easy way to start is to park your car in Telkwa along the edge of the Bulkley River between the Telkwa Municipal Building and the Telkwa Bridge.

A good place to start on the trail
Walk to the bridge and you will see a sign for the "River Grade Trail". From there, the trails are marked clearly.
It is about 3.1 miles from the start to Aldermere, to Tyhee Lake and back to your vehicle along the Tyhee Lake Road and Highway 16.
That's about an hour of travel for most walkers but allow extra time to stop and explore.
