Have you ever wanted to put the pedal to the metal and race someone to the next corner? Pete Boston does it all the time...and he doesn't get tickets, he gets
trophies. If you like cars and speed and the excitement of winning and losing, here is your sport, Oval-track racing.

Pete Boston is an Oval-track racer and he is inviting anyone in the Burns Lake area who likes racing to join him to create an Oval-track racing club. You don't need a lot of
money. Pete says that you can buy a junk car for $100-, add $400- worth of safety equipment and go racing. If you like working with cars and engines, even the preparation can be a great time. If you break something, your fellow racers will
help. Oval-track racing is for fun, not for money or international fame. A typical race event will involve 40 to 50 cars in several classes. The race fees are only $15. You need a roll cage in your car, a safety
harness, a helmet and a fire-retardant suit to keep you safe. |

That's all you need. Hold tight on the steering wheel, hope your engine can take the abuse and then fight your way through the pack of fellow racers to a win.

If you bend the sheet metal, don't worry. It's a $100- car. Pull the fender straight, then go race some more. Pete Boston has been racing for four years. He is a member of the
Oval-racing club in Houston, which is the racing club closest to Burns Lake. |
