The rolling farmland and the long narrow lakes are picture-perfect. Francois Lake is ideal for fishing or boating. But, there's more. There is Ootsa Lake, Tweedsmuir Park and Grassy
Plains to the south. You can drive a loop that starts in Burns Lake, heads south through the lakes, turns west then north to return to Houston. Another loop will return you to Burns Lake via the
north shore of Francois Lake. |

This trip is a must-do; take your camera. There's a good chance you will see wildlife and the scenery is a mix of lakes, farms and forest that you will always remember.
There are not many services, so make sure that you have a full tank of gas and a good spare tire. Be sure to stop at restaurants you drive by, there are not many of them.
