You did WHAT... ...on Schnai Day?
Registration for all events begins at 9 a:m. Participating in any event makes you eligible for door prizes, not to mention the chance to win a free 1999-2000 Season's Pass at the end of the day.
The Volleyball Tournament begins right on schedule. The courts are positioned beside the Orange T-Bar, which means a steady stream of cheering spectators as people glide into the lift's line-up.
A team sporting matching toques battles it out with a team wearing matching lipstick. They cheer when they win, they cheer when they lose.

Rayz's Big Air Contest has a continual stream of snowboarders and skiers performing aerials, 360's and flips on a large jump behind the Main Lodge. An occasional rider on a bicycle or GT will elicit gasps from the audience, as they defy both gravity and logic.
Various races are held throughout the day. The most arduous begins in downtown Smithers and has cyclists spiraling and grinding their way up 22 km of gravel road to be the fastest "McBiker" to reach the ski area.( fastest time of this 12th Annual goes to Peter Krause of Smithers with 1:03:07 !)
Bicycles are also carried up the runs for races in the snow. There is a "Silly Slalom" where children and parents try to complete a course full of crazy obstacles. Makeshift "snowcars" made from cardboard soar, fly and ultimately crash in the "Box Car Race". Driver's licenses are obviously optional for this event.

A BBQ lunch is served outdoors on the patio. The place is busy. There is a line-up for burgers, yet everyone is grinning!
Anyone still hungry can compete in the pie-eating contest. Thanks to Safeway, real lemon-creme pies are used this year. There will be no mess left to clean!
Not everyone heads to the Lodge for lunch. Stellar Jays, Whiskey Jacks and squirrels hover over cabin owners' balconies, hoping for scraps to fall.
Numerous handmade pits conceal sun-worshippers taking a break before they face the next ten hours of their Schnai Day schedule.
