Take a Walk... ...in the Park
by Debi Osborne
People often joke about driving through a small community. "Don't blink, or you'll miss it".
When it comes to Houston, the same people will tell you to slow down and enjoy the sights. The reason is Steelhead Park, that stretches along Highway 16, in the middle of the community.
An ample parking lot, beside the Chamber of Commerce, entices many locals and travellers to pull over.
Fly Rod
The Steelhead Park begins with the World's Largest Fly Rod
Stretch your neck looking up at the World's Largest Fly Rod, or walk on the paved trail that curves around floral displays, sculptures and interesting artifacts.
Steelhead Park is just one example of an on-going Downtown Revitalization plan that is changing the appearance of Houston. Since becoming mayor in 1987, Tom Euverman has worked to keep his mandate "...making Houston the most beautiful place between Prince George and Prince Rupert".
Bridge
The "Walking Bridge" begins the tour down a paved path
Approximately 6 acres of ground have been specially developed for your enjoyment. Children will enjoy the swings at the playground.
Cool off next to the greatly-admired "Steelhead Fountain". Have a picnic or just enjoy the picturesque view. It will take longer than you think to walk through this park.
