Raising the world's largest Fly Rod
by Debi Osborne
What is 60 feet long, weighs 800 pounds, and hovers over the community of Houston?
No, not a new strain of mosquito (at least not yet).

It is the World's Largest Fly Rod. Since its permanent placement between the Chamber of Commerce building and Steelhead Park, it has become Houston's highest, not to mention greatest and most interesting, tourist attraction.

Look up. Look waayyy up!
What better way to remind the community and passing tourists that Houston is indeed the Steelhead Capitol of the World?
Once you have spotted it, right there on Highway 16, you will notice the ample parking areas that surround it.
After taking a few pictures, you can walk around the park's enticing floral displays, marvel at other masterpieces like the Steelhead Fountain or walk to the Chamber of Commerce for more information on the area. There are tables and benches on the grounds, so picnics are expected!
