Smithers Snowmobile Club
by Jim Easterday
Imagine a snowmobile trail from near Smithers, along the Dome Mountain trail, along old logging roads and on to Granisle. That's over 42 kilometres as the crow flies, but much further on the trail.

You could leave Smithers one day, stay overnight in Granisle and return the next day. That's one project that the Smithers Snowmobile Club is working on in conjunction with the BC Snowmobile Federation.

Eventually, local clubs hope to be able to ride from community to community from Terrace to Prince George, all by snowmobile. A tall order, but the Smithers Club has seen much change and accomplished much since incorporating in 1973.

Snowmobiles have become more powerful and reliable. Deep powder and steep slopes are not the problem they were in the 1970's.

If you are a snowmobile enthusiast in the Bulkley Valley, you're in luck. The Smithers Snowmobile Club, 200 members strong, provides groomed trails, warm cabins and a strong voice for members in the Smithers and Telkwa areas.
