Crazy Train Does All the Work
by Diana Roberts
Breaker, Breaker! Hey, all you good buddies out there. If you know a trucker, listen up. Truck drivers love to tell you their tales of woe. How tough it is to drive truck, everything they have to put up with, but did you ever stop to think about the poor truck? What do they go through on a daily basis?

I had the opportunity recently to meet, and take a ride with a long-haul truck, that goes by the name of Crazy Train.

He's a Burns Laker, but does get around a lot. You may have seen him, but never got the chance to get to know him. Now's your chance. We'll let him fill you in on a normal week in his life.

That's me, a bit dirty, getting ready for another trip
Hi there, my name's Crazy Train, and sometimes that's exactly what they drive me! Truck drivers, you know. If you listen to a trucker (and there's a lot of them), they'll make you believe they do all the work. In reality it's us trucks that do the work.

Have you ever seen 46 tons of lumber on the back of a trucker? I know I'm in great shape, but before they even let me on the road, I must submit to a strip search. They really check out my body and trailer, poking and prodding, like I'm trying to hide a flaw from them. Hey, you ladies out there, you know how rough it is always getting 'checked out' by these guys! I know you understand how I feel.

My driver's luxury accommodations
The reason they check me out? Well it must be because I am so great looking. Let me tell you I have a luxurious interior, complete with beds, padded walls, refrigerator, stereo, two-way radio, every kind of gauge imaginable and thick curtains to give some privacy to sleeping truckers. Now, how much more could they ask for?

Did I mention, the driving seats are top of the line in comfort, with all kinds of controls, to do whatever will make a human comfortable! If they ever tell you that the life of a truck driver is full of stress, then get a load of this driver (see the pic) reading and relaxing while on the road. They even bring along a cell phone, to constantly keep in touch with their loved ones.

Do you see me complaining that I have to leave my family behind? I do have friends you know, like Ken Worth, Peter Built, James Western Star and Mack. All I get to do is blow my horn on the way by them, unless I convince my drivers we should pull in at a truck stop. Then I also have a chance to shoot the bull.
