Topley Landing Angels

Betty admits, "I love old things," and she was distressed to see artifacts belonging to the history of Topley Landing starting to disappear from the church. Quietly she packed out what she could to a safer place, not knowing what she would do with the many items, other than assure they stayed.

The Catholic Diocese of Prince George assigned the building to Betty and Bill in 1990. When the Domonkos sold their Lodge in 1993, the church needed to be moved.

Bill put the aged structure up on skids and an excavator moved it onto another parcel of property below the Coyote Lodge grounds. After totally gutting the building, they gathered together a handful of neighbors and friends and began a long and arduous restoration, starting with the near non-existent roof. The interior and exterior logs were oiled and varnished, a bell tower was built to house the bell, windows were replaced and flowers planted. A good portion of the supplies were donated or simply paid for by the caring couple. This was done over the four months of summer in 1995.
A mix of pump organ antiques, crafts and angels
Once completed, neighbor Mary Vincent insisted the place needed music and she donated funds for a pump organ. A plaque in memory of her parents was placed on the instrument which may have been why the Angel side of the story all started.
