Relaxing Northern Massage

Zoya believes honey has many healing properties. It contains minerals and vitamins and attracts moisture. It helps to rid the body of the toxins brought to the surface by the cupping, so the honey goes onto my back in a semi-smacking pattern. For the most part it feels fine, until Zoya reaches my lower back and I feel my skin being pulled like she has duct tape on her palms.

"You have some trouble there," she states in her thick Russian accent. I guess the month of chiropractic help in November wasn't quite enough. Yes, that smarts!

Michelle Thomas specializes in Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and Hawaiian Hot Stones. Note the scents on the counter in back.

Eventually I am washed off in soothing warm water, my arms and legs are kneaded and I want to curl up and snooze instead of heading back out to the real world. But I do.

I am off to see Michelle Thomas of Bliss Bodycare, also in Smithers. Michelle is trained in the ancient Hawaiian Healing Arts, particularly Lomi Lomi, combining prayer, breath and energy with a variety of massage strokes to release areas of congestion in the body. She uses her knuckles, forearms and elbows to specific areas of tension while enveloping your senses in your favourite heated oil. Choosing the scent that appeals to you before your session aids in reaching full relaxation, because you can't help but breathe it in deeply.

Michelle's Hawaiian Hot Stones

The Lomi Lomi is noted for its grace and in-depth movements that highlight the principles of Hula - a Hawaiian dance believed to promote spiritual healing of the body's energy.

Michelle is such a soothing, kind and sincere young woman that you find yourself unwinding completely - your troubles are now far behind.
