In 2003, the first highway trip became
a reality as the twins and Paul left Burns Lake and rode
to Sunwapta Falls, BC. Mother Gheri and daughter Jo arrived
to pick them up to drive them to Vancouver where the three
cyclists continued
their
journey down the coast to Creston City, California. After
that they returned to Sunwapta and finished bicycling into
Jasper.
In 2004, two days after school was out for the summer,
the road trip continued from Jasper, travelling south for
7 weeks.
They went through the Kootenays into Cranbrook, then across
the border into Montana.
At age 15, the twin girls and their father
made their way up the Hoosier Pass (elevation 11,542 feet),
down into Yellowstone National Park and finally into Kansas.
Then in 2005, picking up where they left off, this time
with
Jo riding behind Paul on a tandem bike, the family
continued
making their way east. "We never really plan anything," admits
Paul, who tries to keep things fun.
